Formerly touring in the United States and Japan as vocalist/keyboardist for Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters, educator John Grover Lewis heads an empowering program for students.
Mr. Lewis presents a cross- curricular program, highlighting core and extra-curricular subject matter. Students hone talents by collaborating and merging the fine-arts mediums, including combinations of: choral, drama, vocal solo work, instrumental ensembles, compositional projects, choreography, computer based visual/CGI arts, musical theater, community events, and class recording projects. On stage, in the community, or in the classroom -- students investing in these combinations of performance mediums are poised for developing lifelong skills, creative communication, and confidence for leadership...and it's fun way to learn!
Mr. Lewis was musical director for several years at Southern California's: "Tibbies Music Hall" featuring the world renowned YOUNG AMERICAN SONG AND DANCE COMPANY, and was featured by THE AMERICAN CHORAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION for piano performance and arranging.
With a Bachelors of Music, and Masters in Educaton Mr. Lewis holds extensive training as musical arranger, conductor, and accompanist under international choral director, clinician, and publisher: FRANK POOLER. As well, he has been mentored under music educational specialist: JANET SCHERMER/ Vocal Jazz leaders: BRENT PIERCE and GARY MCROBERTS, and concert pianist: EDITH NAHAS.
From his work with cognitive musical study programs such as THE MIND INSTITUTE, and California educational grant "MUSIC IS" (school wide music training resulting in an average 27% jump in Math, English, and Social Studies), to his creative multi-media performances from and for his students, Mr. Lewis has enjoyed many successful years in building academic and local community fine-arts programs.
Mr. Lewis is a recording producer for Abbamedia, a recording concern based in Southern California, California, out of which his many music recording productions to date have won eight ANGEL AWARDS from Excellence In Media, and Hawaii's Adult Contemporary Album of the Year. His arrangements and compositions are enjoyed by listeners in many countries.
